LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
The lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body by regulating the immune system, which fights infection and eliminates foreign substances and bacteria from the body. To function efficiently, the lymphatic system requires the free flow of lymph in a specific direction through a complex system of lymphatic capillaries, vessels, and nodes. Lymphatic drainage massage therapy combines gentle pressure with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes in the body. It is usually much lighter than other forms of massage, but is still very effective.
RELIEF WITH LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
The lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels and ducts that move fluid throughout the body and is responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to the cells when they are under attack by viruses. Though fluid moves through the lymphatic system, it does not have its own pumping mechanism. Lymphatic drainage is a type of therapy that is intended to help the body produce a free-flowing lymphatic system.

To function efficiently, the lymphatic system requires the free flow of lymph in a specific direction through a complex system of lymphatic capillaries, vessels, and nodes. The lymphatic system is a subsystem of the circulatory system. Its principal functions are to:
- Collect and return interstitial fluid and help maintain fluid balance within the body tissues and organs
- Defend the body against disease by producing lymphocytes that fight infection
When the lymphatic system becomes blocked, lymphatic fluid builds up and stagnates causing a variety of symptoms including:
- Chronic swelling of the limbs
- Recurrent infections
- Impaired organ function
- Fatigue

Lymphatic drainage is used to promote a healthy lymphatic system.
The Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) technique was pioneered by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s and is now practiced worldwide. Manual Lymphatic Drainage is an advanced massage therapy in which the therapist uses a range of specialised and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels and nodes that carry substances vital to the defence of the body, and removes waste products.
- Clears blockages in the lymphatic system

In the first consultation, the therapist will outline the number and frequency of sessions required, which will depend on the severity and duration of the condition. Maintenance visits may be required for long-term benefits to be achieved. Each session lasts approximately one to one and a half hours.

DRY NEEDLING
Do you have tight, knotted muscles at the end of a long working week? Stabbing, throbbing, or burning sensations are all too common these days but you don’t have to suffer the cycle of taking pain medication to mask the symptoms. All Body Care’s natural therapies, including Dry Needling, could be the long term solution you need.
FEEL BETTER NATURALLY
Dry needling is an invasive procedure whereby solid filament (acupuncture) needles are inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point. A myofascial trigger point (sometimes known as a knot) consists of multiple contraction knots, which are related to the production and maintenance of the pain cycle.
A spasmed muscle becomes a damaged muscle. Spasm reduces blood flow in the muscle. This means less oxygen and nutrients to the muscle. Muscle fibres die off and get replaced by fibrous scar tissue. This in turn holds the muscle tight, prevents muscle metabolites from leaving the muscle, and causes continued spasm and pain.
Yes, studies have shown that it is one of the safest forms of medical intervention known. It is far safer than using drugs. Only sterile disposable needles are used.
Dry needling can be used for a variety of musculoskeletal problems. Muscles are thought to be a primary contributing factor to the symptoms. Conditions which respond to dry needling include, but are not limited to:
- Muscle Spasms
- Headaches
- Frozen Shoulder
- Tennis Elbow
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Golfer’s Elbow
- Fibromyalgia
- Sciatic Pain
- Buttock Pain
- Leg Pain
- Hamstring Strains
- Shin Splints
- Hip Pain
- Knee Pain
- Repetitive Strain Injuries
When you’ve got back, neck, or other muscle pain, don’t reach for the pain killers, book a dry needing appointment and feel better naturally. And if you’re not a fan of needles, try our Trigger Point Therapy or Massage Services.
